I'm trying to encode an movie I maded with my DV CAM.
I'm using ON2 VP6 codec. However, I'm getting an error message whenever I click the Begin Encode button.

It doesn't matter what settings I use. Also I reinstalled the software.

Does anybody know what the error message means? see picture.

Uhm... maybe you need a DV AVI VFW decoder.
If it is the case use the search button to find some links to download the decoders.
However what program you use for encoding?

I'm using [edited out]. You can download it at www.on2.com

No... you need a DV decoder to first "DECODE" the data coming from your camera. Then an encoder to RE-ENCODE it to another format (in your case it's VP6).
However i suggest you to read some GUIDES and FAQs about Video Capture...

Encoding from an AVI File
To encode from a raw AVI source file, select File and browse to the file location. If the raw
file contains multiple video streams, click the i button to select which stream you want to
encode.

Above is from the pdf that comes with the encoding software. I used pinnacle studio 9 to capture the data to an raw avi file. Its about 5 minutes long and 1 GB big.

I should be able to encode the data with [edited out]? Or do I really need to read the guides first.

A RAW avi would be more like 8GB's for 5mins. DV is not RAW and requires a decoder. Windows comes with a dshow decoder and apps like Pinnacle would include their own. If the app you are using processes via vfw then as said you need to install a VFW DV decoder. Another factor is that there are two different fourCC's for DV.
