TV out on mplayer win32 with geforce1?

hi. hope this isn't too n00bish...

here's the problem. my video card recently died, and i had to put my old geforce 1, 32mb DDR back in so i could see again.

it's TV out and monitor out are mutually exclusive, which makes watching stuff on TV rather difficult - lots of shouting "bit to the left, down a bit" and lots of memorizing where dialogs and buttons are.

which leads me to mplayer - it's commandline based, and from what i've read it supports all manner of TV out (including VESA, although i think that's just for linux). the advantage of a commandline player when you're working blind is quite obvious - i hit escape and i get my screen back.

so the question is, what commandline options do i use, and what other stuff do i need (config files etc)?

I run a geforce256 and mplayer on my HTPC.

Try out the program TVTool - it allows you do customize various TVout settings. Useful for getting rid of those black bars.

I dont really understand what you mean by mutually exclusive. You cant operate both at the same time?

i read the mlpayer manual... it's mostly concerned with linux (which is fine - once i get everything on this box backed up, i'm installing it).

TVtool, huh? sounds interesting. all i really need is to allow both monitor and TV at the same time and i can use any player i like. but if my card truly isn't capable of that, i'll have to figure something else out i guess.

that works perfectly... but i must have missed the part that says it turns into colourbars and crashes your media player after the 15 minute trial is over :(
