What is the correct frame type after applying pulldown to NTSC movies?
I see the original source frame type is progressive but after applying 3:2 pulldown to the CCE encoded 23.976 fps MPEG-2 video stream, the resultant m2v frame type is set to interlaced.
If "The same (pulldown) procedure is being used for most NTSC DVDs", why do they have different frame type extensions(flags) than the files created by pulldown.exe?
Should I change the frametype of pulldown.m2v to progressive with some program like restream or should I apply the pulldown with the progressive Program Frames parameter?

The Original M2V:
Framerate: 29.97
Nom. bitrate: 9800000 Bit/Sec
VBV buffer size: 112
Constrained param. flag: No
Chroma format: 4:2:0
DCT precision: 8
Pic. structure: Frame
Field topfirst: Yes
DCT type: Field
Quantscale: Linear
Scan type: ZigZag
Frame type: Progressive

CCE Encoded file:
Framerate: 23.98
Nom. bitrate: 9608000 Bit/Sec
VBV buffer size: 112
Constrained param. flag: No
Chroma format: 4:2:0
DCT precision: 10
Pic. structure: Frame
Field topfirst: Yes
DCT type: Frame
Quantscale: Nonlinear
Scan type: ZigZag
Frame type: Progressive

The Final M2V(after applying pulldown):
Framerate: 29.97
Nom. bitrate: 9608000 Bit/Sec
VBV buffer size: 112
Constrained param. flag: No
Chroma format: 4:2:0
DCT precision: 10
Pic. structure: Frame
Field topfirst: Yes
DCT type: Frame
Quantscale: Nonlinear
Scan type: ZigZag
Frame type: Interlaced

Your help and guidance is highly appreciated.

the frame type wont effect playback...you can use restream or pulldown.exe to change the frametype flag to progressive if it makes you feel better

iirc, frame type after pulldown should be alternating between interlaced and progressive (hit F5 in dvd2avi and watch it ;))

ya i've seen that too...why is that?

ive done movies with alternating and with the flag at progressive - didn't effect playback
