VOB to AVi Help

hey all,

Having hassles trying to convert VOb to avi files... I have tried: WinAVI 5.8 video converter.... I have set on No compression as I don;t want anythign compressed.. I get error in the converting process.
I have tried other convertors which either give crap quality or don't have any uncompressed options.

The DVD i copied is of some of my own school work.. region free etc..burnt originally in encore.

Basicly I want something that will convert VOB to AVI uncompressed.

VirtualDubMod worked.. but it makes some unknown type of AVI file that I can't import into After effects.

I also have ACE mega codec pack installed if thats an issue.

Any suggestions appreciated!

Imtoo DVD Ripper and 1click has no uncompressed options.

if I 'Must' use a compression can you recommend what codec for highest quality rip? I don;t care about size etc..

Completely uncompressed is unnecessarily large, a lossless video codec will look exactly the same but be ~1/3 the size. I suggest huffyuv or vble as good lossless video codecs. I would use virtualdub(mod) to compress; if you still have problems loading the video file into After Effects try saving as a legacy (1.0) avi (it is an option in the save dialog - maybe After Effects cannot load avi files which are greater then 1 or 2 GB).
