Here are my notes on converting PAL dvd to NTSC dvd with menus.
They are a bit cryptic so I post it here in advance forum since this is quite advance and takes lots of time to convert but results are perfect.
For the menu:
1. copy only vts and 0_vob to a new folder
2. use dvdremakepro to remove unwanted menu portions and remove/edit buttons, shorten pauses, etc.
3. NuMenu4u to demux vobs... then edit framerate idx=1, progressive=1, alterante scan=0 or create avs for each vob
4. BatchCCEWS to convert moving menus from PAL to NTSC as follows:
5. Create a batch file to create the d2v files with <path to\DVD2avidg> -ia=2 -FO=0 -YR=2 -TN=1 -OM=1 -IF=[<path to vob>\001.vob] -DRC=2 -DSD=0 -DSA=0 -OF=[<output>\001] -exit
5b. Create a CCEDATA.txt for BatchCCEWS with 0,"<path>\014.avs",0,9000,9000,1,5,30,16,0,999,-1007,0,1,0
6. Convert AC3 to NTSC length with AC3Tool to Wav then BeSweet Wav to Wav6 with PAL->NTSC then Softencode Wav6 to AC3
7. For Still menus, open vob with MenuEdit and save frame and buttons.
7a. Edit mdl file by dividing by 1.2 top(round down) and bottom(round up) of square.
8. Use Maestro to mux together menus, for still with audio use loop and no to PAL for bmp import.
8a. Maestro will auto PAL->NTSC the subpicture.
9. Use menuedit to replace vob and import buttons back via mdl file
10. Use menuedit to fix color mapping of buttons (selected, activate)
10. Use IFOedit to menuextras, and replace the vob files. Then getVTSsector.
For the movie:
1. use dvd2avi to create .d2v file and audio to ac3
2. use chapter xtractor on IFO and save as .chp and by frame .txt
3. use avisynth to cce to create mpv, then pulldown to .m2v with DFF and without DFF. use chapter frame .txt for I frames, bitrate using bbc-length of AC3.
4. use ac3tool to save ac3 to wav 6channel
5. use besweet to save 6channel wav to 6-channel waves with 25->23.976
6. use softencode to mux 6 waves into AC3
7. subrip OCR, select track first before converting or timecode will be off. save as subrip format .srt in 25fps
8. edit all <i> and </i> to ^i
9. import 25fps srt into subtitle workshop (no interaction) and output as 23.976 as subrip .srt
10. extra step, check for overlap with srt2sup
11. use sub2stl, select Tahoma 26 (or whatever desired) and save as .stl
12. load into maestro assets and add the DFF movie
13. then load the subtitles, delete the DFF and add the real m2v with pulldown
13. add audio
14. import chapters and adjust frames
15. compile
16. move and rename vobs into the original set using IFOupdate, supremap to change subtitle color
17. run ifoedit and getvts
18. test play then burn
Thanks to Doom9 forums where I picked up solutions to each of the steps.
