wierd "sharpening" artifact

Ok well i made an xvid encode in virtual dub and i played it back and it was fine. howvere when i muxed it into an mpeg 4 file it had the following artifacts. (uhhhhhhhm damn i cant get the picture to show up)

anyway it looks like extra distortion around pre existing artifacts though not exactly like a sharpening filter but close.

Try checking "Allow Unsupported Decoders" in the 3ivX Config utility (assuming you use 3ivX dshow filter for mp4).
