Hello,

I've noticed that Auto Gordian Knot doesn't use Packed Bitstream because I saw that the first frame gives that warning.

Now, doesn't the audio get 40ms (since I use PAL DVD's) out of sync? I know, 40ms isn't much, but it is there.

And, why turn Packed Bitstream off? I know that Packed Bitstream restrict the order of the I,P and B frames, but what is the advantage of turning this off?

By the way: I tried encoding a 3.12 hour movie to 700MB just to look at the quality (375kbps), but AutoGK chose for 608x256 pixels which is 0.098 bits/pixel. Why did AutoGK chose that resolution, because 0.098 bits/pixel is pretty low. My previous encode was also 608xXXX (0,130 bits/pixel), so perhaps this is related?

Hello ripper64,

Just came on your question(s) when reviewing differents threads.
Concerning the packed bitstreams Q, I found somes answers not so long ago; you can look at the Xvid FAQ n° 20 here: http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=16935
and the 2 differents links:

Short answer (with my little knowledge of the subject): packed bitstreams -may- cause problems on playback, specially on stand-alone so I believe AutoGk does not use it for that reason.
I indeed had playback problems with xvid having packed bistreams and I had to use the MPEG4modifier tool to remove them with success

Hope that helps :D
