Hi,

My DV cam (Sony-PC120) when capturing via WinDV or DVIo apply a DAR of 1.000 (no matter if it's it's 16:9 or 4:3) to the captured AVIs. So when it's played in the PC it looks at the wrong aspect ratio for 16:9 videos. I can change the PAR with AbcAVI, but what I would like it's just change the DAR. I can change it in Premiere, but I have to do it one by one.

I've searched a lot but didn't find any other tool to change DAR for AVIs without recompressing. It's this possible?

Thanks a lot.

afik nope.

Avi contained does not support any aspect ratio feature.

Now you can use mkv container for that purpose.

If you are playing avi's on PCs, there are several video players that can resize to 4:3 or 16:9 on command, such as BSPlayer, available from Doom9's download web page.

AFAIK, PAR can be changed in AVI, at least with abcAVI.

About matroska, I know (I use it all the time), but it's for NLE DV stuff, so no use here

Well this is no DAR flag in Avi.
PAR flag exists, but it is not really of any use, unless you have a special monitor I guess.

So, in short, what to do, when one got a movie, that need change from 4:3 to 16:9 DAR (BSplayer) to display correctly?
I mean - to convert it FOREVER...?
