Hello
When I encode a video, it is always a bit lighter and unsaturated than the source. I'm using DVD2AVI. It displays the right picture (saturated). And the result is a bit whiter than the display. What's wrong?

DVD2AVI can be used for creating AVIs; most people don't use it for that purpose. Instead, they use it to create .d2v project files for further frameserving, which is what Gordian Knot, AutoGK, and DVD2SVCD do "under the covers."
Without a whole lot more information about your sources, your settings, your codec and its settings, and sample images, it will be difficult to give you any advice about your current process.
I recommend spending time with Doom9's guides.

Open it in VDubMod. Is it still bright and washed out? It could be the overlay settings of your video card are screwed up. Try another player. Is it still too bright and washed out? It could be your player's settings are screwed up.
Most people, if they complain about the AVI's appearance, complain about it being too dark. My guess is that it's some kind of a playback problem.
And you're actually encoding through DVD2AVI? Don't.
