Are there limits for the # of zones?

i'm going to encode a series with xvid and for the optimum bitrate distribution i'd like to encode 5 episodes at once and cut the single episodes out of the big file afterwards. i'll need 3 bitrate-zones per episode = 15 zones total. does this work with xvid or am i abusing the zones model with this task and will get problems or worse quality than single episode encoding would produce?

You've a total of 64 zones available, so no problem from that side.

Just make sure to start a zone with the option "start with keyframe" checked exactly on each episode's "first frame", to be able to do frame-exact cutting later.
