so i have been using headac3he for audio conversion since 2002 and the last i heard of any new version at doom9's site was years ago with the release of v0.23a, but it turns out dark avenger's development on this project has been on-going for some time now. there has been releases of headac3he v0.24 up thru alpha release 12 on the german doom9 forum. i was pleased to hear of this as the old version is somewhat outdated, and i downloaded the executable and gatered the newest stable azid.dll, lame_enc.dll, faac.dll and so on to test the complete package. it has many new features (including aac encoding) and i would like to post this package here for download, but i am hesatant to do so without dark avengers permission.

let me know if any one is interested in this because i belive headac3he is the simplest, fastest, most comprehensive ac3 transcoding prog available and i wouldnt use anything else.

dark avenger - thanks for your hard work and you have a great product. im dissapointed to hear you will be moving completely to linux soon. maybe i will follow : ) please if it is possible add nero aac output support to headac3he as this would be awesome.

i dont see how it would be any slower than besweet as they use the same ac3 decoding engine (azid.dll) and i know it handles 2-pass normalize and downsampling faster than anything ive ever used.

anyways, here is the newest version if anyone is interested:

Hello, :)

Dark enough, but perfectly functional.
Can one hope for a hold in ulterior account of the DTS or HE-AAC?

Cheers for the link! I always use headach3e for transcoding when it`s an option, nice and simple, well laid out.

Send the author a mail about this. I think he is working on it coz lates t version had more aac options which were not supported by the encoder yet.
For the ones who use aac, use the low profile, main gave me an error.
