HardBurned Subs

At the risk that this could be an utterly daft question and the fact that it might have been asked before, is there a genius around here that knows if you can strip hardburned subs from vobs?
I've got a mint copy of Huston's African Queen with very annoying
burned German subs, or at least the option to switch them off is greyed out. It's yours if you can help me...

If the subs you mean are inside the video stream itself, you can't just remove them.
You can try to use DeLogo filters to get rid of them, but:

1) You won't be able to get rid of them completely
2) That process involves a new encoding of the MPEG-2 stream, so the quality will suffer a bit.

If it is a letterboxed video stream, with subtitles in the black area, then you can get rid of them completely, but you still have you re-encode the video stream.

But maybe they are just "forced subtitles". Means they are not in the movie itself. You can get rid of them by re-authoring. Actually I believe you can do it with IFOedit, so you won't have to reauthor completely.

Yes, of course you are right, I forgot to look. The German subs were only forced and could simply be removed with IfoEdit. Thx for the head up.
