View Full Version : AutoGK Feature Request for DVD Input mode

lenOx,

Would it be possible, in "DVD Input" mode to provide a way for the user to setup a permanent "Output File" path for the output AVI file with the same filename as the "Input Directory" filename?

For example, if the user always wants AVI output files to be created in folder "C:\Temp1", could an option be added that would make this the permanent output file location coupled with the original filename from the "Input Directory?"

I remember this request was made by a few people several months ago and you agreed to do it, at least for the "File Input" mode.

Thanks for your consideration of this request.

I would like to see that feature on AutoGK, also a Recovery feature like DVD2SVCD and maybe runnimg the Comp.Test before audio transcoding, to help us decide the right size/resolution before the whole encoding process.

I would third Rizlaw's directory to filename convention as an added feature. My typical work flow is from:

X:\A Movie Name\Video_ts\files

to:

Z:\Movies\A Movie Name.avi

Not having to reenter this for each job would sure be handy. Heck you were looking for small features worth donating for. I'll donate (again) for that one.

That may not be typical for everyone. The common case may be:
X:\Movies\Movie name\
to
X:\Movies\movie name.avi

We need to agree on the naming: either its first directory in the path (like your case) or last directory name (as in my example, which i feel is more appropriate).

Do you realize what are you asking for? How comp test can be useful if you don't know size of audio...

Agree it may be different for different folks. Most of the MP3 cataloging and tagging software I use allow selection of Current directory, up one level or up two levels for selecting things like artist, album name, etc. Perhaps a selection box for naming the avi as current directory name, up 1 level, or up 2 levels. The destination path could be either a fixed setting or current source directory.

Thanks len0x

There will be no choices. Its will be just one default behaviour - AutoGK its not a file management application...

OK, whatever. Just leave it the way it is then. At least it is consistant now.

It's true, but audio could be calculated when not using Auto mode, or the addition of a recovery option could avoid the whole process of re-starting a job from zero, just in case the comp.test is not as expected the transcoded audio could be re-used with the new settings.
