SSE optimized ffdshow

Hi there,

i just saw that there are different version of the new ffdshow filter.

I got a Athlon XP 1700+ CPU and thought 'hey lets get the SSE optimized version'.
After i tested both (normal and sse optimized) versions, i have not noticed an improvement by the cpu usage. Normally the sse version should use less cpu power.

Anyone can tell me i which way the sse version improves performance ? How may precent can be gained by using an optimized version ?

May be I am wrong, but I think, SSE and SSE2 are Pentium Optimizations, not available in AMD's

You are wrong, athlonXP supports SSE, athlon64 supports SSE+SSE2.

Generally SSE code runs about the same as plain x87 on the Athlon since x87 is already so fast. Not always though.

Speaking of joking - your sig reminds me of a sad reality reminder. I recently changed jobs, and in cleaning out my desk for the big move, I found the invoice for the company's 1st (then) high powered CAD machine - exact same specs except i386-20 (instead or your 286-10) - price - $19,800 + taxes. Timeframe was as I recall was ~1987.

That's sad.
