Multiple angles

I am trying to back up my copy of a new hope, but there are multiple angles for the starting titles, how do I rip it for so I only get the English ones

Thanks

Also wrong section I know but your all smart guys ;), with forced subs, I followed the guide, but it says “if you prefer to get rid of the other subs altogether mark all the forced subs in Subresynch, then press Save and save your subtitle file under another name. Subs that haven't been selected will not be stored in the new file”

Now how do I “mark” all the forced subs that I want to save, I have done a few different things and when saving it still comes out as a 67MB file, what am I doing wrong here.

Thanks all

Hi-

how do I rip it for so I only get the English ones

If it's an R1 DVD, as far as I know, the first angle is always the English one. In the case of the R1 Star Wars Box Set, the first angle is English, the 2nd is Spanish, and the 3rd is French.

If you're not sure, just rip the chapter with the scrolling writing at the beginning. For me, it's the 2nd chapter, where the first chapter is the 20th Century Fox and LucasFilms logos. Play it to find out. Right-click on the chapters in DVD Decrypter, Select None, and then recheck the chapter(s) you want. Decrypt it to the hard drive and play it. Do it for each angle until you find the one you want.

Now how do I “mark” all the forced subs that I want to save, I have done a few different things and when saving it still comes out as a 67MB file,

67 MB is a mighty big sub file. It must not be the R1 version, and there must be an awful lot of Sub Streams in there. Anyway, I use VobSubStrip (http://zuggy.wz.cz/redir.php?co=4) to first get rid of the Sub Streams I don't want. You select the Stream(s) you want to keep (strip), and it will get rid of the other ones. Once you have the Sub Stream that contains the Forced Subs, then use SubResynch to save out the Forced Subs, and the size will shrink some more.

wow thanks for the quick reply, I already have it ripped to the HDD, its more when I go to use DVD2AVI, that it plays all the different languages one after the other, now do I need to rip it again in some other way (I’m doing it in the Gordian knot defaults (file mode?))Or do I need to edit it, in virtual dub mod or DVD2AVI.

You need to use IFO mode, not File mode, as every guide points out. DGIndex/DVD2AVI only supports the use of IFO parsed VOB sets.

In IFO mode, DVD Decrypter will automatically select Angle 1 of the longest PGC. You can change to a different Angle, or a different PGC.

If you are unsure which angle to use: Select Angle 1

Scroll through the area of interest

Select Angle 2

Scroll through the area of interest

Select Angle 3

Scroll through the area of interest.
