Best player out there at present

OK which player plays the most encodes right now? If they are all complete wank like the MT1389 series is then what is on the horizon and looks promising at being able to handle more encodes?

There are some good developments on the horizon but nothing to get excited over.

All the players have bugs/limitations and I think it will be some time before we get a reliable unit.

I've purchased both ESS and MTK units and my HTPC beats them both in reliability. Given the present development, I think it will be a long time before we have a real good set top unit.

BTW, I think it's nuts to re-encode movies to fit the profile of a player. I would say we are perhaps 2-3 years away from a true consumer ready Mpeg4 player.
