i have a specific subject regarding OGM 2 DivX conversion.hope somebody is going to help me with it.
i didnt know where to post this thread so i hope here is ok.
i also looked some prevoius threads but i have a slightly different problem.

i have some ogm files i would like to convert in order to watch on my Playstation2 using Reality MediaPlayer.it is capable of playing AVI container with DivX/XviD compression and audio in mp3 or PCM format.
regarding audio there is also a OGG player budled with MediaPlayer but it is a separate application and plays audio files only.

i have to convert these files.i know that the quality will be lower than the original but im affraid i have no choice.

i was using River Past video cleaner which is able to convert files but i dont know how to set up conversion process properly, and thats my question-how to setup video cleaner to propperly convert files regarding MediaPlayer restrictions?

Video Cleaner is able to convert files directly in different manners-output files can be AVI,DivX,XviD,and some other.
then,i can choose between several compressors...DivX,XviD,and again some other compressors.
audio files ill convert in PCM because i know that MediaPlayer recognises that type.
has anyone does this type of conversions?please help.
ill provide more info about MediaPlayer if necessary.
thanks.

hi and welcome to the forum,

have you seen those two threads? they're both still on the first page of this forum...
http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=83453
and
http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=83728

those are both about the 'recommended' method of converting ogm's to divx (of course the ideal method would be to restart directly from the dvd, as it is the only way to ensure quality is still acceptable)

if you need help with setting up the encoder to ensure compatibility with the PS2 player, just post what limitations/restrictions apply and we'll try to find the right codec settings for you!

never heard about video cleaner, so i guess i can't really help you if you really want to stick to it!

hello and thanks for reply.

i must say that i really dont want to use Video Cleaner, but it was the only ogm 2 divx converter i could find on the net.

if u have something else, and think it is better, please tell me.

i looked those 2 threads but i didnt find them useful because we are dealing with Playstation2 and second thread is how to convert sound....i know that Playstation2 will play PCM sound from my ogm file.thats why i opened a new one.

Problem is: what program to use for converting and how to convert ogm files into divx in order to watch files in MediaPlayer using Playstation2.

Types of files and playback MediaPlayer uses are mentioned in my previous post.

loss of quality doesnt worry me,nor the size of a converted file.

i just want to convert those files so i can watch them.

if i missed something please tell me and ill add in another post.

thank you!

have you even read the two threads i've linked you to?

jggimi describes how to convert ogm to divx in great detail - including what apps to use!

edit: but to further elaborate more... usually ogm files already contain divx video - so all you have to do is convert the audio stream to a readable format (pcm, mp3) and remux the video stream to avi... that's it.

yes i read those threads...
but they didnt help me very much.
i still dont know how to setup Video Cleaner propperly because i discovered that converted files are too big...around 400-500 MB each.
one converted file (AVI with DivX compressor and MPEG layer3 sound) was 1.5 GB big...
and subtitles are still missing.

i didn't talk about video cleaner... I already told you i don't know squat about it, neither have i ever heard about anybody else using it...
furthermore video cleaner is a commerical product, since i suppose you paid for it, can't you ask product support, on how to configure it correctly?

anyway, if you want further help doing the conversion with vdubmod, you'll have to tell me more details about what you want (or what went you already tried) - like e.g. you never before even mentioned that there were any kind of subtitles in your source video! - i can't smell such things...
