HD stands for High Definition. It represents a futur specification with higher resolutions up to 1024i (1024x1920, interlaced).

I need to know that is the phisical feature of a HD DVD different with a DVD ?

And also I need to know that authoring a HD DVD is different with authoring a DVD ? Does that have another software ? Or we can author a HD DVD with (DFor example) Scenarist ?

Yes HD DVD is different from DVD. HD DVD is a new standard for the next DVD generation. This generation will use blue laser diodes and i don't know a software to author HD Titles. Also you won't get disc or players for HD.

You can by some DVDs with HD versions, but these versions are only playable on computers.

To get more informations search the web for: AOD (advanced optical disc) blu ray disc HD DVD ...

Not sure exactly how hd dvd's work but blu ray is essentially sort of like a dvd except instead of only 2 layers it can have like up to 8 or more layers. and the blu laser can burn a finer ring around the dvd so more info can be packed per layer.

...and beyond hardware at least blue ray has a new
application model. Button sounds and popup menus
are only some new features. More info here:

Powered with java the successor seems
to become the real convergence media....

Anybody with infos for HD?

Here is some info on the hd dvd proposed by NEC and Toshiba. It seems that the two formats are very similar except I think that Blu ray can have a lot more layers and they have more storage per layer. 27gb as opposed to 15 for hd dvd. Warner bros. just announced its support for hd dvd but mgm and columbia are with the blu ray camp. It looks like it will be a big struggle for the next dvd standards. Also the starting costs for hd dvd will be less than for blu ray as it is more similar to current dvd standards.. but both have said they will be backwards compatible. Its just that blu ray may start out alot more expensive at first.
