Mods: If this isn't the right forum then please move it to the right one but let me know.

Alright so I've tried my dvds on the following players Toshiba 2800, Panasonic RV-31 and Tatung dv-668 ( You can't find much info on this ) ALL of the dvds I attempted to back up has both the audio_ts and video_ts folder on them. I have tried these guides:

http://www.doom9.org/index.html?/mpg/dvdshrink31-main.htm
http://www.thescrapyard.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/files/video/using%20freeware%20utilities%20to%20backup%20your%20movies.htm
as well as converting a bunch of files using the dvd option in Winavi which does the authoring and transcoding for you I believe.

Also I have tried this custom dled dvd ( has all the ifo bup and vob ) and burnt the files as DVD-VIDEO in Nero, actually I've tried just about every dvd option avaliable in Nero. Anyways I messaged the person who made the files and he said he was able to watch them with no problem on his dvd player and he burnt with Nero. I looked up the Toshiba player on videohelp and according to the posts there, it is be compatible with the media that I'm using Memorex Silver 4X DVD-R. What the players would do is first off for the Tatung player it would spit it out seconds after putting the disc in, the Toshiba reconizes the disc as a dvd but it loads forever and I don't exactly remember what the Panasonic player did but it didn't player it either. I don't know why the dvds are working on the dvd drive in my comp and not my dvd player. Please people I need help.

Welcome to the forum.

You might want to try performing a backup of a single layer DVD, also known as DVD-5. Find any DVD that has total amount of data less than 4.3Gb. Any recordable DVD with a movie that plays in a standalone player would do, too. This is a most simple backup scenario since it doesn't require any compression of the video. DVD backup guides (http://www.doom9.org/mpg/dvdbackup-guides.htm) may help; check out the section DVD-5 -> DVD±R first. I suggest using re-writable DVD for testing.

Once you've managed to get this working, you can move on to more complicated procedures such as compressing a movie with DVD Shrink.

PS Please never mention here "dled" material as it's against the forum rules (http://forum.doom9.org/forum-rules.htm) to provide help with illegally obtained content.

Yes I know its against the rules to provide help with illegally obtained content, thats why I said custom dvd ( could be a friend's wedding dvd :) ) But anyways I will give the 4.3 gb dvds a shot in a few days, let you know what happen.
