media server

i have been playing around with several streaming servers before i came across this one:

It streams avi, mpg, wmv, etc, as long the client pc has the needed codecs installed.
There is also an activX client component similar to divX's for embedding it into a webpage.
Is there anyone knows how to:
-make an activeX work in FireFox?
-or how to start programming a plugin for FireFox?

stay away from activeX. you alienate a large sector of your audience.

unfortunately i don't know what else to use. VLC is a streaming client isn't it? as far as integrating it into mozilla, i'm sure it may happen soon if demand is high enough.

i know, activex isnt neither an real option. As in my edit, the activeX player also works in FireFox as an plugin at least for the windows platform.
The UMediaServer can stream virtual anything to the client without transcoding to something else like mp4 or mov for Darwin Quicktime server.
VLC isnt bad, but they dont have a good web client and mp4 support, for connecting up to a dss, is kinda buggy.
IMHO, UMediaServer is a very good combination and it would be great if they can further develop the web client.

we have activeX component for WatchMe! server :)

manual doesnt mention the activeX control.
Do you also have a Mozilla plugin?
