Using a winfast xp2000 card, I've transfered some vhs tapes to my computer using a 720x480 capture resolution in mpeg format. For creating a bit torrent, I've used virtualdubmpeg2 to confert the files into XVID format. Once the conversion takes place, the aspect ratio changes from 4:3 to 3:2 I've tried adjusting the aspect ratios using the encoder configuration program from the xvid binary (koepi's) as well as in vitrualdubmpeg2. Any suggestions on what I can do to keep the aspect ratio 4:3? Thanks!

System specs:
AMD athlon 64 3200+
512 mb 3200ddr ram
Winfast tv2000xp deluxe
winfast PVR recording software (any suggestions on a better one for this card?)

Hello, and welcome to the forum.

The default for XviD is square pixels. With square pixels, resize from 720x480 to a 4:3 aspect ratio, such as 640x480, 320x240, etc.

You can alter the Pixel Aspect Ratio within the XviD codec, but your container and player would need to support it. Press "more,.," on the "Profile @ Level" settings, and see the comments on the "Aspect Ratio" tab.

Thanks for the reply. I was trying to stay at a resolution that is compatible with dvd specs. Guess I'll use 640x480 for the rest. Thanks for the help, and if anyone has any other suggestions, please post.
