Hello everyone, thank you for your help.

I have produced a final dvd from my personal dvi videos, but I am very unhappy about the video quality.

It is 20 min video. How can I use the whole dvd 4.7 G. of space for my video for better quality I am thinking.

I used premire pro for cap. editing and saving files back to dvi.

I used dvd-lab to produce the dvd and record. Everything was great but how can I improve the video quality. My dvi files were great but the dvd final very poor.

Is MPEG-2 a set mode for playing on a tv as a dvd when it comes to video?

I have looked all over the site but I haven't seen anything that I can understand. Thank you for your time and patience.

The max. bitrate allowed on DVDs is 9800 kbps, video and audio together. Using the max. bitrate your 20 min video will be about 1.4 GB large - no way to use the full 4.38 GB space. But that's not necessary; you should get really decent video at 8000 kbps and above.

There's a DV to DVD guide in the Guides section at doom9.net

Happy encoding! :)

Thank you bb I will look at that guide. You are correct that is the size of the file I am getting. I did the math and it is correct. I am not sure if I am trying to see quality as good as the dvi files being play in my computer or even close to the comercial dvd's

If I use a comercial movie as an example, how good should my video be from dvi to dvd? Thank you I am off to the guide.

What's your file properties setup as?

Whats your export settings set up as?

If your files are great and your setup is right you should be getting excellent quality coming out.
