hi,
alright some serious questions here. I thank god my account didnt get cracked on this forum. I bet if you a search in my friend google you will come up with forums that has been cracked. Now lets get to my questions.
What is the minimum for hacking/cracking on a free forum?? Is it my job or is it the board owners job to press charges if they made inappriate posts/replies?? What is this 16 year old girl already been arrested for hacking and how can i get her arrested for life?? p.s. if you see anything edit it wasnt me. I will give names and info through email, PMs or IMs through messenger but not on the board.

Woah, woah, hold your horses.
how can i get her arrested for life??First, what you're asking for is for someone's death. Not a physical death of course, but you basically want to kill off her life just the same. Which, BTW, is just as bad. Seriously think about what you're asking here. You can't always have revenge, no matter how much you may hate the person.
What is the minimum for hacking/cracking on a free forum??I don't believe there is a prison charge. Cracking into someone else's account usually does not count as a serious crime.
Is it my job or is it the board owners job to press charges if they made inappriate posts/replies??Usually the board operators just ban the person and the issue is over.
What is this 16 year old girl already been arrested for hackingHm, no offense if this is true, but I call this into question. A minor would hafta do something rather major to get arrested, especially for the charge of hacking.

Why would free accounts would be cracked? There is no point in that...

probably so someone with a chip on their shoulder could make posts under someone else's name and thus defame them.
i'd be going for defamation, not hacking. you stand a better chance in a civil case.
or just get a restraining order (if you know who the person is).
[edit] btw, reading other people's mail is a crime. i think that has been extended to email in some countries. i'm a bit hazy on the law (a guy can't know video and be a lawyer as well...:))

There's no point in viruses or worms either, unless you believe the conspiracy theory that McAfree and Norton are behind them.
It's done just to prove it can be done.

It's done just to prove it can be done. That used to be the case, however more recently there are people such as spammers that use worms/trojans to hijack people's PCs to send spam. Its easy for a single email server sending out spam to be put on a blacklist. Its a lot harder to put 100,000 zombie PCs sending out spam at random intervals.

So let me get this right...
You met her on a legal forum because you had been flirting with an underage girl who threatened to call the cops, then you started chasing after her online, and now she's started hacking your logins?
That's one crazy story right there :)
It looks like there's been some crazy stuff happening on both sides. Why don't you e-mail her, ask her politely for your logins back and agree not to talk to each other any more. You two don't want to end up battling this out on Judge Judy.
Reset your e-mail addresses, passwords, and password questions wherever you can with something secure. And finally, stick to 20+. Teenagers are nothing but trouble. Just ask their parents :)

i just had a read of the link he provided. its more like he got freindly with a 16 year old girl online and started some sex talk etc. she then threatened him with the cops and getting his ass sued(sexual harrasment/ stalking/whatever). now he claims she is also hacking his forum accounts and wants to see here ass in jail.
now isnt love grand ? :D
listen dsantamassino you dug yourself a hole and jumped in of your own free will. you should never have had anything to do with a 16 year old to start with. dont come crying for pity or help to put her away because you did wrong and want to get out of it.

Under no circumstances email her about anything. I'm not a lawyer, but the best advice in any hairy situation is to stop whatever is going on, refrain from all contact, and if the police show up, ask for a warrant and use your "Miranda" rights. "you have the right to remain silent... you have the right to an attourney, if you can't afford one, one will be provided"

lol! doom9 has become a soap-opera.
seriously, you could both stand to grow up a little. net romances pretty much always are just a bunch of pie-in-the-sky, and when it comes down to it, it's usually just 2 people role-playing.
you can't judge a person by the colour of their text. especially depressed goth-brat schoolkids - they often tend to hide their sense of inadequacy by making up an alter-ego and letting it run wild.
think how much easier it is to lie when someone can't see your face, and you'll know what i mean.
btw, she most probably has no legal recourse, and even if she did (i don't know what you got up to :)) she would probably never run with it because then her parents would find out what a fine upstanding young lady she is and promptly confiscate her computer for a gillion years.
i only like high-school girls if they're japanese and animated :P

Well, it's been fun folks, but I'm returning to the realm of video compression before Doom9 bans my ass for contributing to the demise of his forums... :)

he's talking about the NY state district attourney! not some 16 year old schoolgirl with too much time and a slightly vindictive nature.
please cool down a little and understand what people are writing. i don't want to get into this, and i don't want this forum to get into it - it's a personal matter, pure and simple. we're video coders - we're not going to take sides on things that we know nothing about and are not our business.
and this is a public forum, so it is highly inappropriate to post people's name and email here unless they have your permission to do so. hell, i don't even post my own email publicly for fear of spammers.
please moderate your behaviour. in my opinion you've got as much free information from the internet that anyone in your position could hope to get. if you've done nothing wrong, then we'll support you. but we're not going to hold your hand - it's not our business.

That's true. The new DNS SPF record (http://spf.pobox.com/) that went into effect Oct 1 should help stop that once email clients adopt it. It's a simple concept, you receive an email claiming to be from somebody@sample.com. Your email client checks sample.com's DNS server for the SPF record which describes all the possible valid SMTP servers for example.com. It then looks for a matching server IP address in the email header - no match = forgery.

but honestly, go chase someone your own age, in a little while this will be all over(depending on how long it takes you to contact Mr. Rieper)
