I bought a geforce fx VIVO 4600 or something recently, and after installing the wdm capture drivers, I've been trying to capture some Hi8 video tape over s-video.

The cature quality is perfectly fine, so I would be satisfied if it weren't for 20 or 30 seconds of a gray area in the middle of the video every 3 or so minutes, I can't figure it out!

I've tried different codecs, and different capture programs, so I'm really not sure what could be causing it.

yes, I know it's interlaced, I'm keeping it that way on the dvd it will eventually be placed on, once I get rid of this bar :)

Thanks in advance, I hope someone has some ideas!

This thread may point you to an Nvidia driver update:

And this thread may point you to an older driver, as your tape may trigger macrovision protection even if macrovision isn't used on the tape:

fantastic!

I just noticed in the screenshot I took that the bar is white, not gray as it appears in virtualdub. I would have found the solution in a previous topic if I had searched for the right color bar :)

Sorry for making a redundant topic, and thank you for your quick reply. My sister will finally get off my back about making these dvd's of her trip to europe!
