Media Code retrieving in linux?

Hi, does anyone have a clue (or can point me to a thread) on how to read the DVD media code (much like DVD Identifier or DVDINFOPro do)?

With recent versions of dvd+rw-tools (http://fy.chalmers.se/~appro/linux/DVD+RW/) there is a little command line tool named dvd+rw-mediainfo.
