Hauppauge 401 or JVC HR-DVS3U: which would you prefer for VHS captures?

Question says it all. I plan to start making VHS captures in the near future and wanted to know which option should give me a better quality source (which would later be filtered with Avisynth and encoded with TMPG). I have no experience with the JVC, but I own and use the 401. I have found it to be a great overall card. I did have some problems with my old machine with it and my SoundBlaster sound card competing for PCI bandwidth, but I can hardly blame that on the 401.

I have chosen to use the standard drivers instead of the BTWin one, but I have done a few caps with the modified driver, and was pleased with the result as well.

I already know that the 401 is a good capturing card, but I was wondering if 800 bucks and DV instead of HuffYUV are worth it for the TBC and noise reduction the JVC deck offers.

I don't know why you react like this, I just tried to make my question a bit more specific so that you could answer it better. If you took offense by my answer I apologize, I didn't mean to diss you or anything like that.

After re-reading your post I see that it was much more innocuous than I originally thought. Its hard to see how an individual is saying something on the internet :) I guess I over-reacted, and apologize.

Good luck on your purchase. I wish I could be of more assistance, but I have no experience with the JVC.
