View Full Version : Removing "layer breaks" after DVD-RB is done?

I was just curious if anyone knows if it would be alright to use IFOEDIT to remove the layer break or "breaks" after DVD-RB is finished with everything? I notice DVD-RB leaves the layer breaks they were they were originally and for "one" layer break that's o.k but multiple layer breaks such as on some Episode/Series discs get annoying sometimes because my player stops for a second on layer changes. I know some players do and some don't but a Pioneer player is what I have. I love the player as it plays everything i've ever thrown at it even crappy cheap media flawlessly but it does choke on the layer breaks so having 5 or 6 would be great to eliminate.

I was thinking i'd just use IFOEDIT (After DVD-RB is complete) to strip vob id's, but then i'd actually keep everything selected and just hit "correct original IFO" files. I'm pretty sure that would remove the layer breaks and keep everything in tact. I was hoping IFOEDIT had an option for removing LAYER BREAKS but I don't see it.

Anyone have any suggestions or reasons why I should or shouldn't do this?

Thanks

Easy way (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=46201) to remove layer breaks. Note that "layer breaks" aren't necessarily layer brakes in ifoedit-land, so be sure of what you are doing. There can be more than one -- i think it's just where there is is a system timer discontinuity. Ask jdobbs, but I gather that automating the removal of layer breaks stands to be tricky. Anyway, if removing the layer breaks allows you to play on your standalone, then go for it!

I think that one of the reasons that DVD-RW or DVD+RW were invented was to do DVD-RB tests :D... use them :)

keep it UP

Hi guys, thanks for the response. Right after my post I went ahead and used IFOEDIT to remove the layer breaks, it wasn't all that tricky and worked perfectly, my .IFO files are identical to the originals (with the layer breaks) now they are identical but without the layer breaks. So I guess I essentially answered my own question.
