How many disc burns before dying?

Now that DVD burning has been around a couple of years, many of us wonder how many real world burns you'll likely get out of that old burner before it is time to chuck it.

Poll limited to those who you have stopped using a DVD burner because it failed, became unreliable, or started burning discs of questionable quality.

Select the number of discs you burned onto a specific DVD drive before discontinuing it use to burn DVDs.

2x speed writing got flaky on my Pioneer DVR-A03 after maybe 500 discs. It didn't make coasters when I stopped using it, but the write quality deteriorated enough to get a new drive.

i've done between 750 and 1000 burns on my sony dru510a 4x, and its still going strong. I just sent it to a burnerless friend and picked up a new nec for myself.
