:scared:

Hi everyone,

I am new in these forums and I have run into what I think is mabe a first. I recorded The Godfather Part II off of Spike TV---it is the full uncut version. I record movies all the time & make my own DVD's for my use using Pinnacle Studio 8 and my Sony DRU700a burner (the new dual layer one) on DVD-5's so I make several discs / movie. I have never had a problem before even on Spike TV. It is captured in analog with my ATI Radeon AWI 9600 Pro video card.

I cannot burn a DVD image of it to my HDD or to DVD---I get a "failed to compile" error in Studio 8. I have done some testing and found that I can burn an image of the commercials only but when it comes to the movie itself I cannot---not even one frame! I have heard a bit about flags on digital broadcasts but can find nothing on analog broadcasting. How can this be? Has anyone else run accross this? Is there any way around it?

****(This is an edit)****
I just had a thought and tried a test burn of the same movie with Nero & that worked but I do not figure this. I burned both to DVD & HDD with success on both so I do not believe it can be a burner problem or if so Nero masks it---I do have AnyDVD so maybe that helped mask it for Nero????

Thanks

Me again with update.

It is bad enough that they are flagging DTV & HDTV but according to what I have read on flagging it makes no mention of it applying to analog broadcast by air or cable TV.

I guess this is just a taste of what is in store for us all with the high levels of protection to come as HDTV evolves screwing TIVO and just about everything else including blue-laser. It looks like the only way around it is going to be with a PC and some yet-to-be-developed killer software.

Anyway, I did succeed 100% on burning a backup of that movie in spite of it all but it took a while to figure it out!
