I bought the Star Wars dvds & am trying to rip them to my comp so I can use my Xbox as a media player, but I'm having problems getting AutoGK to show the forced subs, like when Han is talking to Greedo. I have the PGC & Angle options checked in the IFO settings, but I just can't get them to work. In the Subtitle Track pulldown, there are options for Normal Closed Captions Wide; Normal Closed Captions Letter; Normal Captions Wide & Normal Captions Letter, among others. I've tried All Subtitles, but it didn't work either.
Thanks.

Hi-
Are you checking all the subtitle streams with the Forced Subs box checked? If so, uncheck it and try again. I have the set, but haven't ripped them yet. But from your description, they have their own stream, technically aren't Forced Subs, and unchecking the box and then choosing one of the Closed Captions choices should do it for you. I think. But if you don't figure it out, I'll rip them myself and let you know. This is the R1 version, isn't it?

Thanks. I haven't had the chance to try it yet, but when I do, I'll let you know how it works.

Hi-
I decrypted the R1 Episode IV, A New Hope to the hard drive to test. In AutoGK, the alien language subs are in both:
English/Normal Captions: Wide, and
English/Normal Captions: Letterboxed
Those are the 3rd and 4th sub streams down from the top.
They work with the Forced Subs box checked or unchecked. They are flagged as Forced, but there's no dialog in those streams except for the alien dialog.
If you renamed the IFO following my erroneous instructions earlier, rename it back to the way it was originally:
VTS_02_0.IFO
Run the Preview to make sure you get them. Then when the Preview is running, scroll to 49:59 where Han is talking to Greedo in the cantina to see them. Or go to where he's talking to Jabba a few minutes later beginning at 52:43. If you see them, ignore the "double subs" that you'll see. It'll turn out alright. If you don't see them, then open the Star Wars_preview.avs (or whatever you named the movie) inside of the agk_tmp folder and make sure the VSFilter is loaded at the top, and that you have the line VobSub("D:\Star Wars\agk_tmp\Star Wars.idx") further down.
In the Stream Info.txt file that DVD Decrypter gives you, they are:
0x22 - Subtitle - English / Normal Captions - [SubPicture 02: Wide] / LBA: 5 / PTS: 00:00:00.198 / Delay: 0ms, and
0x23 - Subtitle - English / Normal Captions - [SubPicture 02: Letterbox] / LBA: 6 / PTS: 00:00:00.198 / Delay: 0ms
For anyone doing these movies in GKnot/VobSub Configure, they're English 02 and English 03. And again, either Forced or Unforced will work.
Good Luck. Let us know how it goes.

Thanks. I tried it with the last sublisting & forced subs off & it worked, but it added some stuff to the opening scroll & there are no other subs.
I'll try it your way & see how it works.

So, I guess you'd better do it with the Forced Subs box checked. When I looked at them in Resynch (in the GKnot Subtitles Tab), there were some other lines listed, but they didn't seem to have any dialog in them that I could see. They just showed as empty grey boxes, which I figured wouldn't show up in the video. But I didn't check all of them, so maybe some stuff did show up that you didn't want.
You weren't quite clear what was added in the opening scrolling part.
If you have GKnot installed (or just open Sub Resynch whereever the VobSub package is installed), you can often track down those pesky Forced Subs more quickly and more easily than testing out all the combinations in AutoGK. Where AutoGK just gets one language at a time, if you were to rip them all in VobSub Configure, and then open them up in Resynch, you can quickly pinpoint what you want. This will sometimes require going into the .idx file and changing:
# ON: displays only forced subtitles, OFF: shows everything
forced subs: OFF
from OFF to ON.

Hi.
With the subs I picked, during the 20th Century opening, there are things like:
Writer Director
Geoerge Lucas
Actress
Carrie Fisher
Sound Designer
Ben Burt
There is also the name Muren when Obi Wan gives Luke the lightsabre. I guess these are some of the subs for the comment track.
I do have GKnot installed but never really messed with it since AutoGK works so good. I'll give your Sub Resynch suggestions a try.
