View Full Version : DIF4U bombing during demux operation

I'm trying to use DIF4U to do Futurama, Season 3, Disc 1. I have tried multiple times, and each time DIF4U crashes during a field order judging operation. The message displayed in the program is that it couldn't determine field order, and max tries were reached. That's when good old Windows XP pops up a "DIF4U has caused an error and will be closed" dialog box..
I'm going to try again, and remove the video clip I think is causing this, but has anyone seen this issue? On this same DVD, one of the Title Sets shows up with no audio or subtitles, when in fact it has 4 audio languages and 3 subtitles (you can see it from video_ts.ifo using IfoEdit)
This is my first occasion to have DIF4U cause trouble.. Wondering if I'm all alone out here.
Thanks!

There are some settings that influence dif4u operations on field order and video type detection. You could try to vary with those settings (turn off frame analysis maybe).

if it's a small file, i'd be willing to run it through debug to see what is going on.

it's really strange - for some reason DIF4U winds up putting VTS_09 & above in VTS_10 subfolders.. I don't know if it's a strange DVD layout or what..
Eyes - what files or info can I provide to help you troubleshoot this problem? FWIW - even DVDDecrypter doesn't show a VTS08 when I go into ifo mode.. bizarre.

That probably means it's a protected dvd and those VTS sets arent actually referenced. Trying to deal with the IFOs normally results in programs crashing!
Do you get 'possible structure protection found!' messages in the DVD Decrypter log when you try and rip the disc?

Getting tricky aren't they :)

No, no error ripping the disc, worked just fine. I'll see if when I mount the ISO, playing through the different title sets and PGCs produces any problems..
I've never run into anything this strange before. I may just rip it again, to see if I get the same results..

If you do rip it again, just be sure to look in the log for that 'structure protection' message.

Thanks guys - just got the time to re-rip the original disc.. first thing I looked at was ifo mode of DVD Decrypter when I popped the disc in, and sure enough, VTS_08 is there and everything looks normal.
I think I had a DVD drive on the way out, it's been replaced with a newer model. Like I said, I've never had that happen before..
On a random note, it appears that each episode of Futurama has its own encryption key, so that may have been part of the problem? I have no idea..
