View Full Version : Error on AVI->DVD

Rebos

Not sure why I get this error. But its an error at the end of it when it reaches dvdauthor. Here is what it says in my log.

TAT: Processing C:\Program Files\DVD2SVCD\Movie\MPlex_Muxed_File00.mpg...
ERR: Error opening C:\Program Files\DVD2SVCD\Movie\MPlex_Muxed_File00.mpg: No such file or directory

I have sufficient space on my hard drive. I have installed and reinstalled the DVD2SVCD B3 and it still does it. It makes the .mpv and the .wav files just gets the error above after that.

Hmmm, looking into my crystal ball...
I'm seeing an AVI with MP3 audio...and a checkbox in the DVD2SVCD Audio tab...something to do with "Do not convert audio"...

Only kidding :)
Though I'm surprised a search didn't find the answer for you.
Chances are you are using an AVI file with audio which is not DVD compliant. If this is the case, you must UNcheck the Use Source Audio checkbox so that DVD2SVCD converts it into a compliant format. Otherwise the process fails at the authoring stage.

The audio file with the avi used to be .ogg which I converted to a pcm/.wav file. Then loading up Vdubmod I added the .wav file to the soundless .avi file. I have tried this multible times now and am pretty clueless to what I could be doing wrong. Even with that error it splits the avi file into a the ntscfile.mpv and a ntsc.wav file. I am trying to get this into a format (bin/cue/ect) for a dvd burning program such as nero. Then look into dvd authoring program from there. I did have a post going from noob section but since its more of a DVD2SVCD problem I figured this would be the best place to continue.

I will check this again and see if it is indeed a .wav or still another file. I noticed the other person with the same problem did fix this by unchecking. Then again I am pretty sure it is a .wav file.

Thanks in advance.

ok I went to the audio tab and unchecked the Do Not Convert Audio(use source audio) and it worked except now I have no audio on the burned .iso file when on dvd.

Is this when played back on your PC or is it on your standalone that it has no sound.

If it works with a software player on your PC, it could be that your standalone will not play discs converted by DVD2SVCD. This is very rare but does occur.

If there's no audio when you play on your PC, you'll have post the full logfile for us to look at.

OK, the next step is to track back through the conversion process.

Does the multiplexed .mpg file (MPlex_Muxed_File00.mpg)in your output folder have audio?

Do the Extracted_Audio_1.wav and Encoded_Audio_1.mp2 have audio?

Once we know where the process failed, I'm sure we can solve this.

Cheers
Nick

EDIT - both Mplex and BeSweet (audio converter) produce logs of their own. Check these for errors as well.

Still no luck with this. Does anyone see anything in my log above that would give an explanation of whats wrong?

Thanks

I'm not able to see anything wrong in your log, but it will be useful to know:
Does the multiplexed .mpg file (MPlex_Muxed_File00.mpg)in your output folder have audio?

Do the Extracted_Audio_1.wav and Encoded_Audio_1.mp2 have audio?

Simply try to play these three files in Windows Media Player and check if they play.

Yes all three work. 2 audio files have audio and the .mpg has audio and video. But the problem is the dvdimage.iso file that is created when burned to a dvd contains no sound.

I am unsure what I need really since I will be using a dvd author software to link multible files together. Not sure if I need .iso files for that or ect... Just know the .iso file when burnt to a dvd isn't working(no sound anyhow).

Also not to mention my file sizes have started with 200mb file then demuxing and readding a sound file, convert to .avi ends up 400ish then after using dvd2svcd the Encoded_Video_TMPGEnc_NTSC.mpv=1gb, dvdimage.iso=1gb, Extracted_audio_1.wav=200mb, then the folder DVD Files contains another 1gb in the Video_TS folder and contains nothing at all in the Audio_TS(Which seems about right since there is no sound in my .iso file, but I am unsure). So basically its gotten to the point I am unsure which files I am going to need and which are ok to delete.

Thanks again I am learning more and more everyday from this forum. :)

This is the dvd2svcd workflow
A) Elementary streams production:
- Audio files (in your case a mp2)
- video file
B) Muxing audio/video
- Done by Mplex : MPlex_Muxed_File00.mpg
C) Authoring
- A file structure produced by dvdauthor. One DVD usually has two folders, called AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS. The first one is for Audio-DVDs, and not used (no files inside) in Video-DVDs, as yours. In fact, there are a lot of Video-DVDs without this folder.
Dvdauthor will produce these two folders and the files inside VIDEO_TS under "C:\Program Files\DVD2SVCD\Movie\DVD-Files"
D) Image creation (optional) using mkisofts an iso image of the DVD will be created: "C:\Program Files\DVD2SVCD\Movie\DVDImage.iso"

In short:
- No files under AUDIO_TS are expected.
- Not clear to me, are you using the iso file produced by dvdauthor+mkisofts?
- How are you testing your iso file?. You need to "mount" it in a virtual_DVD SW like Daemon-tools. After mounting the image, you will find the folders VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS in the Virtual DVD, with the same files than the ones under "C:\Program Files\DVD2SVCD\Movie\DVD-Files\VIDEO_TS"

And, the last point: You are using a mp2 without an ac3 file. This is not fully standard, and although it usually plays in a PAL settop, I'm not absolutely sure it will play in a NTSC one. Do you test your compilation in a SW player?

In my directory DVD2SVCD/movies/ is a file dvdimage.iso which was created. I simply burnt that to a dvdrw to test and it plays perfect just no sound. Then I also tried burning the video_ts folder files to the video_ts folder using nero and then I just added my encoded.wav file to see if that would work. But it did the same. Just played the video and no sound once again.

Do you test your compilation in a SW player (WinDVD, PowerDVD) or directly in your settop?.

Ok I got the dvd to run with sound now. The files are still much larger after converted from the ogm-avi-adding the extracted audio from(vdubmod and changing it to a pcm .wav)-then from that to dvdsvcd it gets about 1.2gb.

So the file sizes sorta goe like this 200mb-450-1gbish. Is this just standard to keep the quality or am I doing something that isn't needed to cause this.

Thanks so far guys I have finally gotten something accomplished. Just need to get a few more things to finish.

You can also try to convert your audio to dolby digital (ac3). Assuming it is a stereo track, this is BeSweet command line:

"C:\Program Files\DVD2SVCD\BeSweet\BeSweet.exe" -core( -input "C:\Program Files\DVD2SVCD\Movie\Extracted_audio_1.wav" -output "C:\PROGRA~1\DVD2SVCD\Movie\Encoded_audio_1.ac3" -logfile "C:\PROGRA~1\DVD2SVCD\Movie\Encoded_audio_1.log" ) -ota( -g max ) -shibatch( --rate 48000 ) -ac3enc( -b 192 )

Final size will be the same than mp2 (bitrate is the same)

And, just curious, the problem was your settop? Is it unable to reproduce mp2 audio in a DVD?

Actually it was just winamp and media player not playing the sound from the dvd+rw. I used an rw for i didn't make coasters, so I installed PowerDvD and it worked perfect.
