GK closing by itself

This is weird, never had this problem before. I have GK 0.28.8 and the latest Divx Pro. After I click Save and Encode, go into that n-pass screen, and if I click on the Divx settings I usually get a warning from my firewall that Divx is trying to connect. Usually I just say Block it, but when I do, GK just closes automatically. Has anyone else had this happen?

DivX 5.2 connects to a server to look for updates and new graphics for its GUI. In the DivX codec GUI, click Settings, then clear two check boxes -- "Rotate artwork and product information" and "Always check for new version at startup"
