Changing Starting Track...

The DVD often startup with all the preview and stop at the Menu. You then have to press Play to play the movies. How can I skip all of that and go straight to the movie when I put the Disc in the player. I still want to keep the Menu so that it will goes there after the movie is finished or when I press the Menu button on the remote.

Using Ifoedit, http://ifoedit.wh.fr0zen.com/splitprob1.html#moviestart. You can also change your commands in PgcEdit too.

I believe, if I'm not mistaken, that

tells you to jump directly from first play to the movie title.
In my experience this only works once in a while (not for every DVD), because the jump in the first play PGC skips lot of register initializations that are necessary for the movie to play normally.
There is a way to do waht you want (jump straight to the movie) with Pcgedit, (i.e. set the registers the way they should be, and then jump to the movie), but at the moment it's rather contorted because Pgcedit is still missing a "trace" function (that would allow you to stop playback at movie startup and see what the registers are).
Another solution is to kill playback (in pgcedit) on all the PGCs that play before the menue comes up. Still, you'll arrive at the menu, not the movie. And even making the precommands of the menu jump straight to the movie the first time around sometimes does not work!
I don't know of a simple reliable way at this time... But I'm not an expert.

IfoEdit has a Play DVD function. If you open VIDEO_TS.IFO and press Play DVD to play the movie until it starts you can see what the GPRegisters are (press the dot at the side next to subpicture to open display of GP Registers).

This should address jean's point. Simply Set your registers to the values you find and then Jump to Title 1 (or whatever the movie is). PGCEdit is a perfect tool for doing this very very easily.

Hope this is a workable solution.

Yes, it almost does the trick. However, ifoedit does not show sprms :( so you might still be missing some things (audio track etc).

Touche jean - however, if this were a problem (for example, you might want subbies on like in The Passion of the Christ), the DVD remote ought to be able to do what you want without too much fuss (assuming no PUOps).

r0lZ just released his version 0.4 of PgcEdit, which now has a great trace function! This makes it easy to do the "jump to the movie" thing you're asking about. See this thread
