I was using "DVD2Mpg Squeezer" to convert the DVD video using plug-in "panasonic premier mpeg encoder 2.1" which was on flexion.org like 4 years ago as a way to convert DVD to VCD. I had done several video clips from ricky martin and maddonna, but haven't been succesfully with this DVD-Anime. I need the video as VCD MPEG-1 (complaint DVD) so I can then author it to DVD includding menus maybe? and of course max compatibility for DVD players. I'm planning using cd's only.

Have you tried using TMPGenc (http://www.tmpgenc.net) to encode? TMPGenc is excellent at MPEG-1 encodes, even from MPEG-2 sources. You can use it for free to encode to MPEG-1 video. You should get very good results as animation often looks very good in MPEG-1. DVD format MPEG-1 has some requirements you need to observe, though. The bit rate is
not supposed to be above 1.856 Mpbs and I think you need to keep to VCD resolutions.

I should have added that some DVD autoring programs will not allow you to use MPEG-1 video. This is not correct, but many of the cheaper
"novice friendly" programs will not let you do things that the standards allow. Sometimes they let you do things that the standards don't allow :-( Finally, if you author DVDs to CD-R, please be aware that very very few standalone DVD players will play DVD format on CD-R, which is also known as miniDVD.
