i have DVD2SVCD v1.2.2 build 3, and i've ripped a DVD to my HDD with DVD Decrypter.

in D2S...
with the default settings, "Activate DVD ripping" is CHECKED in the "DVD Rip" tab. so i can go back to the "Conversion" tab, drop down the "Movie length" box, and select which chapters to encode.

now, i go back to the "DVD Rip" tab and UNCHECK "Active DVD ripping". if i go back to the "Conversion" tab, i can NO LONGER do Chapter Selection in the "Movie length" box.

is this how it's supposed to be? or is this a bug? or is there something wrong with my D2S?

i assume that you should be able to still encode by chapter after you've ripped the DVD to your HD.

also, another question. say you have a 60 minute movie, and you want to encode it to fit a 1-CD SVCD, and you've set D2S to do it that way. if you do frame selection and select to encode the first 30 minutes only with the 60-minute-movie settings, will it encode those 30 minutes to fill HALF the CD, or will it encode it to fill the ENTIRE CD?

similarly with the Chapter Selection. if the 60 minute movie was divided into 2 chapters, 1 at the beginning, and 1 at the middle, and only encode just the first chapter. will it encode the 1st chapter to fit HALF the CD or the ENTIRE CD?

last question. is there a way to make D2S encode the entire movie, then make it cut it by chapter?

thanks.

1. It is supposed to work that way. Chapter selection works only when you rip the DVD using "Internal routines".

Alternatively, rip with DVDDecrypter: install the D2SRoBa plugin, select vstrip in the DVD Rip tab, and uncheck 'Auto Start DVDDecrypter' when the D2SRoBa log window appears. In DVDDecrypter, select the chapters you want (left click to select all/none).

You cannot encode by chapter from files on HD. You need external tools for that. If you originally ripped in IFO mode (D2S does that), it is hard even with external tools.

2. When unselecting parts of the movie (frames or chapters), it will still fill the complete CD. If you want half, select CD size = 400.

3. Nope, D2S cannot cut (physically) by chapters. Again you need external tools. But you can rip each chapter as 'Batch prepare' to separate folders, with an appropriate CD size for each, and run all the prepared batch jobs.

Hi,

I am new to ripping DVDs and encoding with DVD2SVCD, but the first try already worked pretty well, just following the tutorial (big thanks to the author(s)).
What I am not satisfied with is that I didn't get no menue and only one audio stream although checked the right boxes etc.
Did I get this right? It is not possible to assemble a SVCD with chapters and menue when I "unleash" DVD2SVCD onto a ripped DVD on the HD. That was my case, I had ripped the DVD first with a ripper software.
Cheers,
