Hi,
I am having trouble encoding using both GK and AutoGK. Both the first and second passes only run for around 5 minutes and the final file produced is not a valid AVI.
I ran AutoGK 3 times on the same DVD and each time the frames.log was a different size. only around 18000 frames processed instead of 180000. One of the times I got an ' ' is not a valid integer error caused by frame size data being missing from the last entry in the Frames log.
I just tried encoding the same DVD using GK and the job data in the log file indicates that there are 180269 frames but after the first pass the log indicated that only 18842 frames were counted.
Does anyone have any sugestions as to what is going on?
I have attached the log from the last attempt using GK
Thanks in advance
p.s I have tried with a number of other DVDs with the same results.
GK And autoGK installed on a newly installed copy of WinXP

Please post you avs from GK session and log file from AutoGK as well.
But if you get different result every time - this might indicate that its a codec issue. Try reinstalling XviD (just for the sake of it you might wanna try DivX to see if it working or gives you the same inconsistent results).

Hi,
I've attached the AVS file from the GK session and also the 3 log files from my AutoGK attempts using Xvid. I tried running autoGK with divX and got the same results ending in the following error when the second pass tried to start.
Cannot start compression
Source image format is not acceptable.
I have also attached the Divx log file as well.
2 out of the 3 AVIs produced by the compressibility test on the Xvid attempts (and the Divx attempt) played without any prlobems and could be rendered by Gspot. The attempt that ended in the ' ' is not a valid integer did not produce a valid comptest avi.
Thanks (Couldn't get files to attach so pasted a couple below)

This looks so weird - but the only reason for non-consistent runs that I can think of is overclocking or memory problem...

Thanks for the help anyway.
I thing I always suspected it was some kind of hardware conflict. The pc I have isn't over clocked but if i figure out what it is I'll post an answer.
Thanks

- file is still in use (unlikely but its worth checking if you can delete or copy that file straight after error occured)
You wrote this in reply to a open AVI failed question in the FAQ section. I tried deleting the _.avi file after one of my autoGK runs and was unable to because it was in use by another program. AutoGK was closed and acording to the taskmanager there were no other programs running.
Is this significant??
This was one of the autoGK attempts that randomly ended in an 'open AVI failed' after the compressibility test.

Unability to delete AVI files from explorer may as well be standard windows problem (you can gooogle for that...). It may or may not related to the problems AutoGK's having.

unregister the damn shmedia.dll (open the console and type: regsvr32 /u shmedia.dll) and you will be able to delete .avi files.
that dll is buggy.

Hi,
The suggestion that it may be an overclocking or memory problem prompted me to get a bios and chipset driver upgrade.
It was a new motherboard that I bought and the upgrades have just been released for it in order to fix some un-specified problems.
I can't be sure if that was really the cause of my problems but I am just encoding my 4th movie without any problems.
Thanks for all the help.
