Everytime I try to backup a copy it starts fine and then I get a error message saying there is a copy protection error. I tried unchecking the region 1 and all... still nothing...seems the only one that works for me is ver2.2.....any ideas??????

Hi trashman. :)
Try unchecking "Enable burning with Nero" in the DVD Shrink "Edit >> Preferences >> File I/O" menu. ;)

ddlooping may be right and I will try that this evening as I have had the same problem with every version since 3.0 beta 5. I've been asking about a solution for this problem for quite awhile.
I have found that if your first rip the dvd to hard drive with DVDdecryptor and shrink from file mode, the problem doesn't exist. however, this is an extra step and if ddlooping's suggestion is correct, 30 minutes would be saved from the start.
personally, I do not have Nero though so I'm not sure if that option is enabled or disabled. Maybe it's enabled by default? I will find out when I get home.

Correct me if I am wrong, but could this just be because Shrink doesnt's backup protected disks?
I know I personally have DVD43 running in the background for this very reason.
Or am I just a newbie to all of this and missing the larger problem?

RedBeard, DVD Shrink has always had the ability to backup copy-protected discs.
The problem is with the Nero SDK (Software Development Kit) that was added to it. ;)
