I am trying to backup my new starwars collection, it works ok (stripped out a angle an dvdrebuilder) but when I play it in the pc it starts default in French (French intro/menus) on the stand alone it’s ok -> English . I believe there is a problem with the default language being set as French, but can’t really find where it’s set ? Is it in the video_ts.ifo or vts01?

Do you really need French Menus?

The default language is not stored in the IFO. It is normally set by the user, via the player's preferences menu.

Do you have a french install of Windows? Most PC players are assuming that the language you want to use is the installation language.

Some players are totally ignoring the language setup. The first menu Language Unit found is used. If your menu's french LU is before the english one, you may try to swap LUs with PgcEdit.

Note: I like to use ZoomPlayer Pro (http://www.inmatrix.com/zplayer/). This player is highly configurable, and play the menus in the correct language.

Yep I know default it's in the SPRM of the player Menu 0 audio 16 and subtitle 18. (I was hoping it was then stored in to a GPRM)

Well I thought about stripping the French :p (sounds nice) but was afraid it wouldn’t work any more.

I don't have a French xp, but also not a English one. Still strange that this title starts in French. I would guess that if you don't have French it would start default in English ?

Anyway I found a "butcher" way to force English Audio and English Menu. For the audio I set the Gprm3 in the VIDEO_TS first play list to 1000 (instead of 100). For the English menu I chanced the link to the French PGC to the English one. (VTS1.ifo menus in PGC11 line 9
if R[6]==R[0] link PGC 12 (was 13 (French one)).
It works ok but I have lost the random menu's (always the same one)

I would guess that if you don't have French it would start default in English ? No. If your preferred language is not present in the menu's LUs, the first LU is normally used, whatever language it is. This is why I suggested to swap the LUs.

No. There is nothing in the VM commands to select the LU to jump to.
When a DVD has more than one LU, the right LU is selected automatically by the player.

For example, suppose you have set French as your preferred menu language in the player's prefs.
1) You have a DVD with 'en' and 'fr' LUs: The command "JumpSS to VTSM 1, Root menu" will jump automatically to the french LU's root menu.
2) You have a DVD with 'it' and 'es' LUs: The same command should jump to the first menu LU, ie. italian.

Hmmm...that's strange. I'm beginning to think your DVD wasn't authored correctly. Anyways, how about finding your English and French menus by previewing them in DVD Shrink?
