Hello folks, I am trying to encode some videos in GK and it quits when I press 1st pass settings or 2nd pass settings on the "GK Divx encoding control panel".
I am using GK 0.28.8 (already tried GK 0.32 beta - same problem) and Divx 5.2.1 pro.
Whenever a new Divx version comes out, I always update it, and never had problems with previous versions.
I also tried reinstalling the codec.
edit: it actually quits after pressing OK (or cancel) on the encoding settings for the 1st/2nd pass.

I remember someone had this problem before with some betas of DivX, but don't remember if it was solved in the end. Uninstalling and reinstalling DivX might help.

I've had the very same problem with GK 0.28.8 and DivX 5.2.1 Pro, but I'm not sure it is restricted to GK, as Virtualdub closes itself sometimes when I'm doing a encode manually. I can't talk about different versions as I've started encoding DivX very recently and these are the only versions I've tried so far.
It isn't always the case that the problem kicks in though, it looks like it is more likely to happen when you click OK on the encoder panel shortly after clicking either of the "1st pass" or "2nd pass" buttons. If I let the encoder panel sit a few seconds it seems to be better.
BTW, both DivX and GK were installed for the first time on a fresh Windows XP installation, along with very few other applications.

had the same problem as well. make sure all divx codecs are uninstalled completely, then reboot, then re-install divx. before rebooting, make sure no *divx*.dll's are left behind, if so, delete them manually. look for *divx*.dll in c:\windows\system32.

I realized that this also happens here, i.e. if I wait a little before clickin OK, then GK wonŽt quit. Guess IŽll be doing this for now, thanks for the hint.

IŽll be trying this too. Thanks.
