Dose any one know how to play a Matroska file with RMVB and HE-AAC streams in it under Liunx?

You might need some external codec though.

Yes, mplayer is usually the way to go. You'll need the win32 codec pack available on their homepage. Read its documentation about how to install it (it = both mplayer and the codec pack). If you have problems with HE-AAC then you should not only try the latest release (1.0pre5) but also the current CVS version.

xine might work, too, but I've had less success with RV with it in the past. Well worth a try, though.

vlc cannot and won't ever be able to play RV because it's pure GPL code which doesn't allow linking against closed source software ( = the RV decoders).

Xine works too. I am not sure what faad version xine (xine-lib1rc6a) use. But i get sound (44100Hz) and video.

Cheer guys. : )

Got it working in xine and mplayer. It's so cool to be able to play all my old encodes. Makes the migration easyer. Now I just have to figure out how to encode RV as well as AutoRV10 and HE-AAC as well as OAGMachine/Nero in Linux. But thats another thread I think.

Thanks.

as the linux version of the helix producer only supports uncompressed input and you still can't pipe the video through mplayer to resize and decode, you'll have some problems encoding to rmvb in linux :(
(If you could easily, I'd switch immediately)
