I have this DVD with a 6-Channel AC3 track.
I am encoding the movie to XVID and since 6-ch takes up a lot of space in the file .. i want to convert it to 2-channel. Is there a way to do this?
Someone in the Audioencoding section pointed out that DVD2AVI does this.
I use AutoGK...everyting is automatic there ... can i do this?

Currently, whenever i encounter a 6-ch track, i encode it into VBR MP3 190kbps.

thanks.

Hi-

Can you do what? Convert DD 5.1 to DD 2.0 entirely from within AutoGK? No. You'll have to do that externally (BeSweet is one way, but it's a bit buggy, I understand).

Convert DD 5.1 to Stereo MP3? Yes, and I think you're already doing that. However, personally, I don't see much, if any, advantage to converting DD 5.1 to DD 2.0, as it's going to be reencoded anyway, and it's CBR. If you're going to reencode, you might as well make it VBR MP3. You'll get nearly the same quality as reencoded DD 2.0, with a smaller file size. But I'm no audio expert, and others may have an opinion.

manono is right in that you'd have to do this manually through another program like besweet, and not through auto gk since you only really have two options, keep ac3 stream or convert to mp3. use the manual gordion knot instead of auto gk if you wanna get into details and do stuff like this. ask auto gk developer if he wants to include this in his next beta.
