View Full Version : How to get back old resize methods?

Since versions DVD2SVCD 1.2.2 build 2 and up, the resize methods have been changed. I personally do not like them, and it appears several other people feel the same way as I've found after doing a quick search. I would like to know if there is a way to get the old resize methods from version DVD2SVCD 1.2.2 build 1 and lower back?

I've always used "16:9 (borders added, encoded as 4:3)", but now, the screen is almost twice as small as it use to be. I have downgraded to the older build 1, but I would very much rather use the newer version as there have been a lot of bug fixes. If the resize methods cannot be modified to what it use to be when using the newer versions, I would very much appreciate an option to select between the old and new resize methods.

Thank you very much for your time.

You can use the resizing plugins.
They don't change, so you will have the same result with all versions.
Just give them a chance.

Since DVD resizing has not changed, I am assuming this thread refers to AVI source material.

You can use the resizing plugins.
Maybe, maybe not :(
Some avi's have caused some problems with AutoFitCD with the new resizers.

This is one of a couple of suggestions from this forum that have been put to the author.
The author is working on a solution to please everybody. Please be patient.

In the meantime, if the older builds worked better for you, you may wish to revert to one of these for now.

Well, the 3 AR settings can do the job w/o any extra hassle, but if I convert one of those very-wide-screen AVIs to DVD, I have to select the 16:9 mode. That's OK, but if I use subtitles, they will show up smaller and more hard to read.
By the way, what are, where can I get them, and how can I use the resizing filters?

This is certainly an issue that needs some kind of sure fix, particularly for AVI --> X conversions.

Thankfully, the author is working on a fix! In the meantime, you can use AVIRes by Jsoto (excellent utility) to find the correct aspect ratio.

Why can't the author use the bit of code from the older builds to fix thim mess? Cose this is just stupid. Of course, nobody's perfect, and he (or they, I don't really know) did a great job so far...

DVD2SVCD is a great guy that is offering the program for free... and I bet that if he was depending on the donations money to survive... he would be dead a long long time ago... be patient :)

This isn't a nice thing to say, is it? :(

Now you're "talking" :)
