I have searched for info on this but don't find exactly what I am concerned about.

I have backed up many dvds to iso's on Hard drive. Made backups to dvd-5's from the isos; usually using ifoedit or dvd x copy. I have several isos that are of original dvd9's that have been damaged.

My question is will I be able to reassemble the back ups to a dual layer dvd-9 when the cost of discs and the tech stablizes? What is involved in taking 2 dvd-5s and making a single dvd-9dual layer again?

Thanks in advance!

Problem could be the layerbreak. I don't know if your iso include infos about the correct point of layerbreak. If so you can burn the iso's with DVD-Decrypter (Nero can cause problems with the layerbreak). I never tried anything like that and don't know if DVD-Decrypter gives the possiblity to set the Booktypfield (DVD+R DL as booktype is nearly not supported by any player).

Give a try and post the result.

Thanks for the reply. My real question is can a dvd-9DL be made from 2 dvd-5's that were a back up of the original dvd-9?

Your note makes me wonder if the isos can be used to create a dvd-9DL. I had assumed that dvd9-dl's could be made from the isos.

Anyone had experience rebuilding a dvd9-DL from 2 dvd5's?

Thanks as always!

Extracting all streams, reauthor them as one DVD-9. You will need a program that can handle double-layer DVD's (with Scenarist, DVDLab Pro and Maestro I'm sure it's possible). Create a image and burn this. Problems with layerbreak-points can occur, but there are quite a few posts about it here.
