HELP: video content not loaded properly

but first it has nothing to do if the contend is downloaded or not and second i think the rule is a bit outdated or unspecified.
what about problems with WMV files that have DRM?

there is many legal content you can download already.

not all music clips you can download are illegal.
there are plenty of legal music video streamload provider already (at least in my country).

so with all due respect, can anyone answer my question?

i don´t know where this fits best, thats why i post it in the general forum.

one some of my downloaded video files (mostly mpegs) i have a problem.

i can not jump to certain point of the video (player does not matter)and when i load them in virtual dub i can only see a part of video.

for example: i have a 5 minute long music video.
i can jump to any postion between 0 seconds and 1 minute and 15 seconds. but not to a position AFTER 1 minute and 15 seconds.
virtual dub loads only the frames from 0 till 1 minute and 15 seconds.

the videos play fine when they are watched from start to begining but it´s not possible to jump back or forward.

also it´s not possible to cut them with virtual dub, because only a small part of the video can be accesed with virtual dub.

what is the problem?
do you know a solution?

You specifically asked about downloaded mpeg, not about .wmv with DRM. And your problem is likely a damaged file, common with downloaded content from P2P networks of all stripes.

ok, i see the doublestandarst must be followed because you fear the RIAA, BSA, FRA... whatever.

but what do you expect me to do?

there are plenty of legal MPEG files (just as legel MP3 files) you can download. the DRM files are only a example and have nothing to do with my question, correct.

shall i register a new account and wrap my legal(!) question in some blahblah?

That would be a violation of Rule 14, Peterle. I recommend you take my advice, and please read the rules.

Sorry, but no forum member will help you with this problem. You registered 14 months ago, but have not spent a lot of time here, apparently.

As I mentioned, above, you are not required to like our rules. But you agreed to them, and we insist, strongly, that you abide by them.

If you feel these are too restrictive, then by all means, take your questions elsewhere.
