Dvddecypter Problems

Alright, I have been burning ritek g05 discs on my dvr-108 for a few days now. Firmware is 1.10 and dvddecypter version 3.5.1.0.

First off the dvds seem to burn fine at 4x, but at 12x they sometimes quit mid burning. It always happens at the switch to 12x speed about 2/5 the way through the burn. It just stays at 0.0x and never continues burning. It doesn't happen all the time, just about 1 out of every 3 or 4 times. Has anybody else had this problem?

Is that a hacked 1.10 firmware?

1.14 is the latest and I always thought G05's were rated at 8x, not 12x.

Of course it's up to you if you want to overburn them but personally, I've found G05's to be awful compared to G04's and certainly wouldnt burn them above their 'rated' speed.

Nope, it is the offical 1.10 firmware that came with my 108 drive. I have yet to flash it to anything else. It recognizes the g05 as being 12x compatible. Another problem I have though is that sometimes I select 8x as the burn speed and it burns it at 4x instead. It is about 50/50. 50% of the time it burns it at 4x other 50% it burns it at 8x.

Also I should probably let you know I have my dvdrom as slave on this same chain. In windows it says the dvdrom is running at udma 2 and the burner is at udma 4. I wasn't sure if ide could handle differen't signalling on the same cable.
