Does FFDSHOW decode DVDs ?

Can I use FFDSHOW to play DVD movies in f.e. ZoomPlayer?
If not, what is the FASTEST DVD decoder available? (Because on my P2 400Mhz using Intervideo's decoder, movies play little jerky..)

I've heard that VLC (http://www.videolan.org/vlc/) is quite good on slower machines.
Although this is not a decoder, but a player, that has built-in support for DVD playback.

Seeing as both VLC and FFDShow are based off libavcodec, they should both have the same performance?

let's not forget, that VLC is an independent program, while FFDShow is only a decoder, and is part of a DirectShow filtergraph, where performance is affected by all filters present, not only the FFDShow.

I had a P2 400 myself and found this:
The only software only solution was PowerDVD 4 (yes, only version 4). Every other method produced jerky video (including MPC using the PowerDVD decoder).

Hardware acceleration didn't work properly because of an interrupt problem, but CPU was at ~ 60% with hw accelerated PowerDVD decoder and a GeForce 2 MX.

If Intervideo's decoder has hw acc, too, this could be the way to go.
