I've tried using VirtualDub to trim off certain pieces of a divx movie, but it will always include everything from the previous keyframe instead of cutting exactly where I want it to. Avisynth's Trim function can cut precisely, but then you have to re-encode the entire video. Is there a way to make exact cuts and preserve the rest of the video? Like transforming the first frame of your cut into a keyframe?

Nope.

Maybe you can cut out the section you want, re-encode just that, and then join it back in?

Basically, if you want to cut, you'll have to reencode all the frames after the cutting until the next kf...
Anc if you do it well, you won't lose too much in quality...
