cut down the read error from a dvd-recorder, not burner, recorded mdvd

I have this liteon dvd recorder that records tv program. When I tried to rip the iso from the dvd it produced to make another copy, it gave me read errors, can I cut down on that? I mean I have to use brand new dvd+rw with spec at 2.4x to get a perfect recording which i am able to make a copy without read errors, and the rw is expensive. I could have just used dvd+r but now that +r is 4x or 8x and way too fast for this unit to support. The only way I am getting a perfect recording is to use a new rw which is 2.4x in spec and then copy to dvd+r/-r using regular dvd burners. Is there any better ripping tool that can rip the iso from dvd+rw recorded by this liteon dvd recorder and that has been used before(the rw) using regular dvd-rom drives/dvd burners?

I use a Phillips DVDR 70 and 75 with Imation +rw`s 2.4speed, never had an error. If you`re worried about your recorder not supporting faster speed dvd media as far as I`m aware using faster speed media will work fine, it`s only when you try and burn faster with slower media you get errors.

For the most part I`ve found corrupt dvd`s have been down to bad media, or the recorder is on the way out?

You could be right that my recorder may be the problem. I tried 4x rated +r media, then the recording failed twice. And the recorder failed once when I was recording a while ago and I had to take back for repair. It couldn't read/record anything. Besides, with rw, I can pause the recording skipping the commercial, don't think so if using +r.

Do you think a benq dvd recorder(not writer) is a better choice than liteon's earlier models like the 50001 I have?

Only set top tv recorders I`ve used are the Philips, best bet is to have a look on the web for reviews of the recorder you`re thinking of buying and go from there.
