View Full Version : Bitsetting of Plextor 708 vs Plextor 712

Either some users I asked to test that out are really stupid, or Plextor is intentionally annoying us: It seems that Plextor 708 and Plextor 712 are using different commands for bitsetting. Due to this, I can currently do Bitsetting on my Plextor 712 without Nero, PlexTools or whatever, but Plextor 708 users are pretty much stuck to those.

So can please anyone test if my bitsetting stuff really doesn't work on the Plextor 708? See my signature for the link

EDIT you need Plextor 708 with Firmware 1.08. Older firmwares won't work for sure.

EDIT2 on cdrlabs it seemed to work, even with a TDK 840G (one with which Plextools certainly won't work)

I have a Plextor PX-708, and as far as I know, the only way possible to use bitsetting is with firware 1.08 using Plextools Professional 2.17. However, once set with Plextools, it remembers the setting even when you reboot, and you do NOT have to have Plextools running either. Any burning app you use will burn a DVD+R with booktype DVD-ROM.

As far as the 712 goes, you can of course use Plextools, and I know that you also have the option of enabling it through Nero.

Found the answer in the meantime; my bit setting app works with plextor 708 and all clones (like tdk 840G) now without plextools or such stuff, and of course without nero crap. The commands are the same, and Ahead is just plain stupid for not allowing bitsetting in Nero.
